For pure dmg potential on torrent strike, the Assault Shotgun is the best apart from the Jackhammer thats only available late. So handguns to fill strike meter and probably the shotgun only to be used on torrent strikes, unless you can hit a lot of enemies (5+). or use the Trick Shot ability to fill the strike meter instantly (has a cooldown though).Spec into Opportunist for +5% and a use handgun with Snap Shot ability (only 1 AP per attack) to fill strike meter quickly.And you should probably use Handguns to fill your strike meter: Helps to have a lot of CHA, ideally 10 for 28% strike rating. Key now is using as many torrent strikes as possible, b/c they double damage and increase the cone size. Shotguns went from being one of the best weapon types in the game into very underwhelming due to various nerfs: you cant put range mods on them anymore, reducing the amoint of enemies hit (reducing Devastations effect) and you cant get the excellent Jackhammer early, b/c Cheebus doesnt sell it anymore - other shotguns are very underwhelming in comparison. Looking back, I should have swapped some attribute points around for Charisma instead since you get more bang per buck of value than pretty much any other stat, but the build was solid enough to clear SJ so I'm content with it. He planed off around the 60% completion mark, but really picked up at around the 80% completion mark. ![]() If you do La Perla's quest, the Tactical Shotgun is fantastic for this build, but you'll be stuck with it for quite some time until you can get ahold of those later weapons. He was probably the second most valuable squad member for me after my SMG squad member. With some careful positioning, by the end of the game, Scotchmo was capable of severely crippling multiple targets.
